VVSC Weather Policy
All VVSC coaches must have the weather bug app on their phone.
Below is the inclement weather policy for VVSC. Please take the time to look over all the information and send it to your players.
Rain and/or snow
- All games and practices will remain as scheduled in light rain and snow
- If the fields become too wet, Vail/Edwards Rec will notify VVSC of any field closures
- If the fields are closed by Parks and Rec, VVSC staff will notify you of cancellations as soon as possible. VVSC will also post field closures on our website
- If the weather worsens during practices or games, VVSC staff or coaches will make the decision on whether or not to resume play
Lightning
- Lightning 10-12 miles away: Warning Zone
- Lightning 6-10 miles away: Clear the fields and seek shelter
- Lightning 0-6 miles away: Immediate Danger, seek shelter
- Returning to play: Players can return to the fields 20 minutes after the last lightning strike that is 10 or more miles away
- If there is less than 20 minutes left in practice/games, or the storm does not appear to be passing quickly, VVSC will end practice/games instead of a delay
